Growing up my mom would always tell me “Beauty is pain”. Sometimes I would disagree; being fed up with the primping, pulling, and plucking. It didn’t matter if I was a bystander, in the chair, on a lap, or the floor I was always fascinated with the world of beauty. As unique individuals, we all have personal beauty standards that are a huge part of our lives. While beauty may consist of pain it also comes with compromise. This can cause psychological distress, low- self-esteem, and social paranoia.
